My name is Leah Logan. I am an Idaho licensed clinical social worker (LCSW- #36482) specializing in therapy from a trauma-informed and attachment focused perspective.
My goal is to give every client helpful and real-life tools to improve their ability to handle what life throws our way.
I work with clients to identify the memories that are impacting their ability to feel safe, confident and happy. I strive to help clients identify and heal attachment wounds from early in life when the brain was still building our sense of self and view of the world.
I am passionate about the resilience of all people and the ability to move from a place of feeling “stuck” to a new outlook of growth, healing and possibilities.
I use a combination of treatment models with an emphasis on approaching clients from an understanding that traumatic events from the past impact the present. It is not what is wrong with you, but what has happened to you. From that perspective I have seen many clients for the first time begin to look at themselves from a place of empathy, and that is where the real work can begin.
With warmth, humor and clear insight, I use a practical and relationship-focused approach to work with clients collaboratively on achieving their goals.
I have worked in the social work field for over 22 years, getting my first job two weeks after graduating with my Bachelor of Social Work in 2001. As a new social worker at the time, I found working in mental health as a case manager, meeting clients in their homes and the community as a support and advocate, so rewarding that I knew social work would be a lifelong career.
Within community mental health, I worked in outreach and community resource development, eventually working into staff training and professional management of other social workers at the clinic where I worked.
Knowing that I wanted to further my education and move into more direct therapeutic care, I attended Boise State University (Go Class of 2012!), earning my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have found most fulfillment in work with people recovering from childhood abuse, domestic violence, and other relational trauma. My experience helps me understand how all the pieces fit together in context of attachment within relationships in order to assist my clients on their journey of growth.
As a life-long learner, the education never truly ends.
I have completed the EMDR International Association approved EMDR Basic Trainings I and II. EMDR is a trauma therapy model that can help the brain reprocess traumatic memories and “file them away in the past” - where they belong.
I have completed levels 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy as well as training in Emotion Focused Therapy to round out my knowledge of the importance of secure attachment within relationships. Ethical non-monogamy, polyamory and kink knowledgeable as well since relationships can take a traditional or non-traditional structure.
I have obtained additional training specializing in proficient healthcare for members of the LGBTQIA+ community with the goal of being a more informed provider, creating a welcoming space and encouraging my clients to feel their most authentic selves in my office and the in the community.
I am a Circle of Security Parenting Educator (COS-P) to foster healthy attachments between children and their caregivers while focusing on understanding that all behaviors of a child are a form of communicating a need.
